Meet The Doctors
Dr. Richard Combden
A native of Newfoundland, Dr. Combden obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from the Memorial University of Newfoundland where he majored in Biology. He then went on to obtain his doctor of Optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in the United States.
Dr. Combden has received extensive training in contact lenses, as well as the diagnosis, treatment and management of ocular disease while carrying out his internships at the Albert Einstein Medical Hospital in Philadelphia, and the Eye Centers of South Florida. He has much experience in the use of ocular and oral therapeutics to treat many disorders of the eye, and is licensed to do so in Ontario. After completing his Optometry degree he moved to Connecticut where he worked for two years at the Robins Eye Center in Bridgeport, specializing in pre and post operative evaluations for refractive and cataract surgeries. Dr. Combden works at our Hamilton office.
Dr. Combden is an active member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists, College of Optometrists of Ontario as well as the American Optometric Association. He is board certified to practice in Canada as well as the United States. When he is not working he enjoys spending time with his wife and fellow Optometrist, Dr. Bita Moeinifar, as well as playing guitar, writing music.
Dr. Bita Moeinifar
Having grown up in Southern Ontario, Dr. Moeinifar graduated from the University of Western Ontario where she received a Bachelor of Health Sciences with Honours. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in the United States, receiving the highest clinical honours for her work in Primary Care Optometry and Low Vision.
Dr. Moeinifar completed three years of internships that included the disease intensive primary eye care division of the Baltimore Veterans Hospital in Maryland as well as the renowned Feinbloom Low Vision Center at the Eye Institute in Philadelphia. It was here she gained extensive training in the use of ocular and oral therapeutics to treat and manage many ocular pathologies. To date, in the province of Ontario, she remains licensed in the use of topical and oral therapeutics to treat many disorders of the eye. Dr. Moeinifar also has a special interest in pediatric Optometry, and is skilled in the diagnosis of many childhood eye disorders. After obtaining her Optometry degree she worked in Connecticut for two years with a program called Health Drive, providing eye care to thousands of elderly patients in extended care facilities. Dr. Moeinifar works at both the Hamilton and Burlington office.
Dr. Moeinifar is a current member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists, College of Optometrists of Ontario and the American Optometric Association. She is board certified to practice in Canada as well as the United States. Her special interests include spending time with her husband and fellow Optometrist, Dr. Richard Combden, as well as traveling.
Dr. Colleen Brown
Dr. Brown was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. She graduated with distinction from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Science degree in Cellular, Molecular and Microbial Biology. She then attended the University of Waterloo and earned her Doctor of Optometry degree, on the Dean’s Honours List, with awards in pharmacology, binocular vision and low vision. She practiced optometry in Alberta for over 10 years before moving to Ontario and joining the Spectrum Family Eye Care team in 2011. She is well trained in contact lenses as well as the diagnosis, treatment and management of ocular disease, using topical and oral therapeutics. She is currently licensed to prescribe therapeutics in the province of Ontario for the treatment of many eye conditions. Dr. Brown works at our Burlington office.
Dr. Brown is an active member of the College of Optometrists of Ontario. When away from the office she is actively involved with her kid’s athletic teams, and enjoys reading, traveling, sports and spending time with friends and family.
Dr. Jason Hutchinson
Dr. Hutchinson grew up around the shores of Lake Huron. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree with Honours, in Biomedical Sciences, from The University of Waterloo. He then went on to attend the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, where he earned his Doctor of Optometry degree.
Dr. Hutchinson has gained a great deal of experience in corneal disease and contact lens fittings from his internship at the Centre for Cornea and Contact Lens Excellence in Chicago. He has also received extensive training in the diagnosis, treatment and management of ocular disease while completing his training at the Illinois Eye Institute Advanced Care Clinic. He is skilled in the use of oral and ocular therapeutics to treat various conditions of the eye, and is licensed to prescribe in the province of Ontario. Dr. Hutchinson works at our Hamilton office.
Dr. Hutchinson is an active member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists and the College of Optometrists of Ontario. He is board certified to practice in Canada as well as the United States. When Dr. Hutchinson is not seeing patients he enjoys spending time with his girlfriend Anne, as well as exercising and playing golf.
Dr. Suzanne McNeill
Dr. McNeill grew up primarily in the suburbs of Montreal and completed her bachelor of science with a major in Biochemistry. She then went on to complete her second degree in Optometry and visual sciences at the University of Waterloo in Ontario. During her time at the University of Waterloo she was also involved in binocular vision research.
Dr. McNeil gained much of her experience in diagnosing and treating ocular disease while working at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas. She is trained in the use of topical and oral therapeutics to treat many conditions of the eye, and is certified to prescribe them in the province of Ontario. Dr. McNeil works at our Hamilton and Burlington office.
Dr. McNeill is a member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists as well as the Ontario College of Optometrists of Ontario. She enjoys serving patients in both English and French, and when she is not at the office she enjoys going to the gym, watching movies and playing the violin.
Dr. Graehem Sayer
Dr. Graehem Sayer was born and raised in New Liskeard, a small town in Northern Ontario. He ventured south to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Waterloo. He then went on to complete his Doctor of Optometry degree with honours from The New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA.
His optometry training included several rotations through private practice, community health and hospital settings where he gained broad experience in ocular pathology, therapeutics, and comprehensive eye care. Dr. Sayer has a special interest in the diagnosis and management of patients with glaucoma. He expanded his knowledge in this area during a clinical externship at Tallman Eye Associates in Lawrence, MA, while working closely with several distinguished ophthalmologists in the field. In the years since his graduation, Dr. Sayer has remained actively involved in treating patients with glaucoma and continues to stay updated on the latest glaucoma research. Dr. Sayer is certified to prescribe topical and oral therapeutic agents.
When Dr. Sayer is not at the office, he enjoys spending time with friends and family, and loves to stay active with sports like golf, curling, and volleyball.
Dr. Amit Bhatia
Dr. Amit Bhatia grew up in Mississauga and completed his Bachelor of Health Sciences Honours Degree with distinction at McMaster University. He then went on to complete his Doctor of Optometry degree at the University of Waterloo.
During his Optometry training, he had the opportunity to work at primary care clinics such as the Health Sciences Optometry Clinic in Kitchener, and took part in teaching family medicine residents about common examination techniques.
Dr. Bhatia took a special interest in ocular disease during his externship at Tallahassee Veterans Affair Outpatient Clinic in Tallahassee, Florida. There he received extensive training in the diagnosis, management and treatment of ocular diseases such as glaucoma, diabetic and hypertensive retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration. He also had the opportunity to observe live cataract and retinal surgeries. Dr. Bhatia’s primary interests including managing and treating ocular disease with special interest in glaucoma and chronic dry eye. He is certified to prescribe oral and topical medications.
Dr. Bhatia is an active member of the College of Optometrists of Ontario, Canadian Association of Optometrists and Ontario Association of Optometrists. He is fluent in English and Hindi. Outside the clinic, Dr. Bhatia enjoys photography, reading books, learning about film-making and traveling.
Dr. Roshni Naik
Dr. Roshni Naik completed her Bachelor of Science degree from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec. She then went on to obtain her Doctor of Optometry degree at the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts.
As part of her clinical experience, Dr. Naik received training in several specialties including primary care, paediatrics, low vision, geriatrics and vision therapy. She also completed an externship at a secondary and tertiary care site where she had the opportunity to co-manage and treat ocular diseases alongside ophthalmologists.
Dr. Naik is a member of the College of Optometrists of Ontario, the Ontario Association of Optometrists and the Canadian Association of Optometrists. She is qualified to prescribe therapeutic agent for treatment and management of ocular diseases.
Dr. Naik enjoys working with patients of all ages and is committed to providing her patients with thorough and exceptional eye care. She is very excited to be a part of the Spectrum Family Eye Care team.
